چکیده
This paper proposes a scalable and reliable multicast communication service based on active networking for mobile hosts in cellular environments. This service uses resources ooered by active nodes in order to overcome problems in mobile multicast communication such as: high error-bit rates over wireless links, losses due to handoos, mobile host location, and NAK implosion. Simulations were carried out for evaluating the service performance as both mobile host speed and multicast group size increase. Simulation results show that this service performs well for high handoo frequencies, even to a large number of users. AMnet: Heterogeneous Multicast Services based on Active Networking
AMnet flexibly provides communication services inside the network. It is based on active networking and on a hardware/software codesign in order to improve efficiency. Group communication is explicitly addressed since it is an important paradigm for future network applications. However, the variety of applications, network technologies, end systems, and user preferences restricts multicast comm...
متن کاملMulticast Routing Issues in Ad Hoc Networks
The advent of ubiquitous computing and the proliferation of portable computing devices have raised the importance of mobile and wireless networking. At the same time, the popularity of group-oriented computing has grown tremendously. However, little has been accomplished to-date in bringing together the technologies for group-oriented communication and mobile networking. In particular, most mod...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Multicast Mobility in a Hierarchical Mobile IP Proxy Environment
Mobility support in IPv6 networks is ready for release as an RFC, stimulating major discussions on improvements to meet real-time communication requirements. Sprawling hot spots of IP-only wireless networks at the same time await voice and videoconferencing as standard mobile Internet services, thereby adding the request for multicast support to real-time mobility. This paper briefly introduces...

42 Computer H ow well distributed computing systems perform depends a great deal on the network services used to move information among their machines. Yet despite this close correspondence , network services have evolved much more slowly than any other part of the distributed system environment. It's not that the networking community lacks innovative ideas: Internet Protocol version 6, Mobile ...
متن کاملMobility support in IP cellular networks: a multicast based approach
Today’s cellular communication networks offer seamless mobility support but are based on a homogeneous networking technology and a complex voice-oriented networking infrastructure. The Internet technology is expected to cause a paradigm shift in cellular communication networks. Mobile IP is the classical solution to support host mobility, but faces a number of disadvantages, including triangula...
